...and along came Alexis

 Why write yet another memoir in the present market ?

There is a slew of memoirs on the market today. Why ?  Because we live in an age of self-obsession  and a lot of people want to tell you about their life?  Yes, in a way, and in a way I am one of them. 

But I am not sure this is about my life. It isn't even about Alexis' life entirely. It's about a process - one way to live. It's about a lifestyle, and about how necessity truly is the mother of invention.

Placed in a difficult situation, a phoenix can rise from the ashes,  a person can be down but not out, a mother can fight through her tears and a family can just struggle on.   All this has happened to us - but there is more.  There is all  the positive that Alexis has brought to our life:  the joy of her beautiful smile, the thrill when she responds to a particular piece of music,  the interesting challenges that her needs have  engendered, and the beautiful people, both those who face similar struggles and those who stand by, observe and support in various ways.
